The UCSD Version
What are you saying, diegonomics, that guilt is established by mere accusation? Traffic infractions are crimes. The least egregious of crimes, but still crimes. The government has the burden to prove beyond a reasonable doubt each and every element of an alleged traffic law violation. Simply giving someone a ticket doesn't cut it.— May 7, 2012 10:11 p.m.
Yeah, I Ate the Doritos Taco....
Sounds kinda awful. Unless you like Doritos.— May 7, 2012 10:03 p.m.
Tijuana Bordello Busted
To be fair, who *knows*? I was only guessing, you are only guessing.— May 7, 2012 10:01 p.m.
San Diego Unified Board Backs Cig Tax
Lori's comment has nothing to do with whether or not we already know that tobacco use is harmful. Making cigarettes more expensive reduces their use, especially among teenagers. Simple as that. So I could mischaracterize your comment as demonstrating that you are in favor of underage smoking. Should I do that?— May 7, 2012 9:58 p.m.
First Look at Proposed U-T San Diego Video Billboard and News Ticker in Mission Valley
What would be the point of this sign? Will it attract Super Bowls?— May 7, 2012 9:52 p.m.
Build a stadium and Chargers will stay? Nope.
I used "bit of" mostly because I did not want to mischaracterize your position. It's a tricky business telling others what one thinks yet another person believes.— May 7, 2012 9:22 p.m.
Build a stadium and Chargers will stay? Nope.
You say my comment was silly, then support it with the following statement: "In my entire life, I've nevergone [sic] to see a game because of the stadium, or arena or what ever name you care to use for the venue. It has ALWAYS been because of one team or the other, if not both." It's as if I said "That car is blue." And then you said "No, it's not. It's blue." And regarding NFL ownership/revenue sharing rules, if you are do not wish to discuss them philosophically, I certainly can't make you do so.— May 7, 2012 9:19 p.m.
April Employment Growth Feeble
I think the economy will forevermore be classified as "recovering."— May 7, 2012 9:12 p.m.
DMV Staffers Took Bribes and Provided False Licenses, Says U.S. Attorney
To make that claim, SurfPuppy, we'd have to establish an equivalent private sector job. Don's comment, that no one thinks he or she is paid enough no matter whom they work for, is well taken. There is no *excuse* for taking bribes, although there are many *reasons*, greed being probably the main one.— May 7, 2012 9:07 p.m.
DMV Staffers Took Bribes and Provided False Licenses, Says U.S. Attorney
Possibly because government-issued IDs are at issue, which can be used to get benefits from the federal government. That's just a guess, though.— May 7, 2012 9:04 p.m.
