Fretwork with lutenist Elizabeth Kenny
743 Prospect Street, San Diego, 92037
Cost: $10 - $35
Fretwork with lutenist Elizabeth Kenny celebrate the 450th birthday of John Dowland, the finest lutenist of his age, and one of England’s greatest renaissance composers. In 1604, he published Lachrimae, a collection of music for viols and lute, which includes a “transcendental journey” based on his most famous song, “Flow my teares,” as well as a series of remarkable galliards, allemandes, and pavanes. Fretwork is one of the world’s premiere viol consorts, returning to San Diego with equally noted lutenist Elizabeth Kenny.
