Joshua Clover is a poet, scholar, and a Professor at University of California Davis, having returned from a year at the Society for the Humanities at Cornell University. He is a regular contributor to The Nation and Los Angeles Review of Books, and a former senior writer for Spin and the Village Voice; most of his recent work concerns militant politics and economic crisis. Clover is the author of two books of cultural criticism, 1989: Bob Dylan Didn't Have This to Sing About (University of California Press, 1999) and The Matrix (British Film Institute, 2005) and two more books of poems, The Totality for Kids (University of California Press, 2006) and Madonna anno domini (Louisiana State University Press, 1997) which received the 1996 Walt Whitman Award of the Academy of American Poets.
