A wanted drug trafficker from Romania was apprehended near Calexico while trying to enter the United States on Saturday, August 11th. The 31 year old man was with a group of eight Romanians attempting to enter the U.S. illegally.
Border Patrol agents confirmed that the man is wanted by Interpol, the International Criminal Police Organization, and is wanted by Italian authorities. Interpol is the world’s largest police organization and has 190 member countries. The organization helps with information sharing and apprehending international fugitives.
The identity of the man was not officially released; however a search of the Interpol website indicted the suspects name as Dimitrie Rosu. The man is expected to be extradited to Italy to face drug trafficking charges.
