I think gwynn stayed here , because he wasn't going to get the same playing time with the yankees!!! He was the star player for the padres , he had been here the longest.. Gwynn was playing in the outfield i think??? The yankees had big names already in the outfield!! There was probably something else in that contract that made him stay??? They only talk about money and years when it comes to players contracts they never talk about the fine print to the public!!! I think gwynn was seeing the future of how much longer he wanted to play baseball and what he wanted to do after his career!!!
