PB Police Prepare for Beach Booze Ban
So you ban lovers think it is worth loosing hundreds of thousands of tourist dollars to have your empty boring beaches? The booze ban should be lifted but with some restrictions. Post heavy fines ($1,000) for people who trash the beach, act up, or are underage, and post BIG signs everywhere so people know. Ban the binge drinking like beer bongs and kegs that promote heavy drinking. I am a 32 year old professional whom is a responsible drinker and used to enjoy heading to the beach for a couple drinks and then dinner out at a local restaurant. Since the ban I havent even bothered to go to the beach once. Everyone I know feels the same. We used to have friends and family come in from all over the country for the 4th to gather and spend the day at Mission bay. But we are all drinkers so this is the first year that our usual guests decided not to come to San Diego. I will bet there were thousands of people that decided NOT to come to San Diego this year because there is nothing special about our beaches anymore. Having the privilage to enjoy a beautiful day at the beach with a beer in hand is one of the things that drew me to San Diego in the first place years ago. What a shame we can't find a happy medium!— July 8, 2008 11:33 a.m.
