Americana: Traditional American Masterworks
3900 Cleveland Avenue, San Diego, 92103
Cost: $15 - $30
From purple mountain majesties to buffalo roaming the plain, our collective musical ancestry comes to life with Americana: Traditional American Masterworks, presented by the Chamber Chorale under the artistic direction of RC Haus. The music echoes through our history, weaving tales of the wide Mississippi in "Shenandoah," and soaring sounds of the brave in "America the Beautiful," "The Battle Hymn of the Republic," and "Amazing Grace." Spirituals like "The Battle of Jericho" lament hardship while seeking hope, while folk songs chronicle men at work and men in love in "I've Been Working on the Railroad" and "Cindy."
