The Polish/Austrian Ensemble
Il Giardino d'Amore: Amor Roma features the music of Vivaldi, Sammartini, and Bach. The Polish/Austrian (period-instrument) Ensemble presents Italian favorites by Vivaldi and Italians, whose sonic visions of an idealized "Arcadia" spread internationally, inspiring an entire age of musicians and composers across Europe. In Greek mythology, Arcadia was the home of the god Pan, and in European Renaissance arts, Arcadia was celebrated as an unspoiled, harmonious wilderness. Many of the Roman composers of the Baroque period, Vivaldi, and Sammartini among them, set out to capture this harmony of nature in their music. In turn, inspired by their own Amor Roma , some Germans, including Bach, followed suit, envisioning Arcadia in their slightly more reflective, but no less elegant style.
