Crossing Thin Ice: Empowering Parents and Teens to Have Challenging Conversations
The La Mesa Collaborative’s third Community Awareness Forum will focus on empowering teens and adults to engage in difficult, yet important conversations. This event will equip and empower teens and adults to be a safe place for someone to discuss potentially challenging life situations. Mother’s Against Drink Driving will share and provide free resources to assist in all the talks that surround drinking and driving. From San Diego Youth Services’ Here and Now program we will learn how to be a safe place for someone thinking about suicide. Presenters from Reduce the Risk will walk us through the sometimes intimidating conversations regarding sexually transmitted diseases and teen pregnancy. The night will be topped off with amazing feats of strength as Ignite Assemblies shows how strong and powerful we can be when we are prepared to have the hard conversations with those around us. A free dinner and entertainment by the La Mesa Arts Academy will add to the evening in Room 1600.
This event is free and intended for parents and teens (12-18) to attend together.
RSVP to Danielle Yee [email protected] if you need childcare for a child from 3-11 years old.
