Omo Child: The River and the Bush
8879 Villa La Jolla Drive, San Diego, 92037
Cost: $10 - $15
For generations, people in the Omo Valley of Ethiopia have believed that some children are cursed or “mingi” -- bringing disease, drought, or death to the tribe. Mingi children are killed because of this long-held belief. This film follows Lale, a young educated man, over five years as he returns to his local village and attempts to end this practice.
Lale Labuko and John Rowe, the director, will speak after the film. This is the final film of the International Documentary Film Series, a benefit for the International Rescue Committee in San Diego.
