Narratives of Resilience: Opening Reception
2825 Dewey Road #102, San Diego, 92106
Cost: Free
Founded in 2001 by Deborah Szekely, The New Americans Museum returns to its home at NTC at Liberty Station Arts and Culture District with a renewed commitment to celebrating America’s cultural diversity.
NAM will celebrate its reawakening with an opening reception for Narratives of Resilience: Reimagining Homeland. The exhibition features two interrelated shows: "Weaving a New Home" and "Mujeres Que Crean/Women Who Create: New Works in Mixed Media" by Carolyn Castaño. These weavings and mixed media tell stories of displacement, resilience, and eventual progress in small communities on the outskirts of Bogota and Medellin, Columbia.
