Native Storytelling
8833 Harmony Grove Road, Escondido, 92029
Cost: Free
Cathleen Chilcote Wallace is a Luiseño storyteller, writer, and elementary school teacher. In her unique storytelling program, Native Talk, she shares traditional and original Indian tales to promote awareness of Southern California native culture and history.
Cathleen integrates the stories and history with native-made items such as tools, clothing, baskets, musical instruments, and toys in a museum-quality table display. Native Talk emphasizes conservation and environmental preservation.
Audiences of all ages enjoy her engaging presentations at schools, museums, nature centers, youth groups, and a variety of other venues. Her storytelling helps students discover the joys of reading and lifelong learning.
