Rockin' the Boat: Opening Reception
Rockin' the Boat: Women's Liberation Movement of the '60s and '70s is the first installation of a two-year exhibition tribute to the fearless pioneers of the second wave of feminism in the 1960s and 1970s, better known as the Women's Liberation Movement.
This wave of activism in pursuit of women's rights, which came in fast on the heels of the Civil Rights Movement, encompassed a wide range of issues: sexuality, family, workplace, and reproductive rights as well as social, political, economic, and legal inequality. Rights that most women take for granted today were hard fought -- by women, for women. In this exhibit, we salute and honor those tenacious women who carried the torch for equality, justice, and freedom.
This show runs from July 5 through August 31.
