Cost: $5 - $10
Pre-film lecture: In conjunction with his exhibition, Noah Doely: By the Light, Doely will discuss the construction of his works and his larger photographic practice. The artist will also introduce the evening's film by describing its influence on his own art. Film: Director Victor Erice's 1973 debut follows six-year-old Ana and her fascination with an old Frankestein film, while living with her aloof and detached family in a remote Castilian village, not long after the victory of Franco's forces. Erice's scenes combine striking visuals and subtle symbolism to offer a veiled critique of Spanish society that cleared Franco's censhorship office.
