Mule Hill: Field Notes
Jeff Smith 11:23 a.m., May 17
Mehta draws with a knife, cutting paper to tell visual stories. Her art is based on the premise that everything is connected. Starting with a single sheet of paper, she cuts away to reveal the image. The intricacy of the connections is essential for the piece to hang together. The centerpiece of this current show is a large paper cutting “Malala, Heart of the World” celebrating Malala Yousafzi, the young Pakistani girl who was savagely attacked by the Taliban after speaking out publicly on behalf of education and women’s rights activism. Exhibit runs through April 9.
