White truffles! and other news that's fit to chew
Fresh white truffles (oooh!) are in at El Bizcocho, from now thru 11/30 or while supplies last -- in appetizers, entrees, or a six course truffle dinner from hot new chef Ryan Grant.
Sessions Public in Point Loma is now serving Sunday brunch 9:30 - 2, with their customary mix of traditional dishes (biscuits and gravy) and twists on tradition (duck machaca!)
King's Fish House is one of the few restaurants that has scrounged a supply of local spiny lobsters in this very lean year. The lobsters didn't like the cold summer, either.
Early heads-up for all manner of feasts: Foodzie.com offers artisan craft foods from all over the country, including the incredible award-winning Lemon Pudding from Sitcky Toffee ( in Texas but run by a Lake Country Englishwoman, of course) - I tasted it at a national food show, and it won for "outstanding dessert." I agree completely. Prices for Foodzie's products vary widely; most are not too high, but watch out on your final order for the shipping charges -- some of them are higher than the costs of the food itself. Will report back later on the goodies I just ordered (had to cancel my Maine seafood soups and Arizona pulled pork -- shipping was just too steep.)
