So...it was 3:00 a.m. the other night, and I was going thru the channels. I watched one of those crazy video shows.

These cops in Dade County, Florida pulled a guy over. I remember "Dade County" from one of the Doors boks I read as teenager. That's where Jim Morrison got drunk and supposedly took his leather pants off on stage and got arrested for a variety of charges.

On this show, a guy they pulled over was a 6'3" muscular black dude. No problem there, except that he was a high ranking police officer in a nearby county. Again, no problem yet. Except that this cop started mouthing off about why he was pulled over. They said that he made an unsafe lane change, he had an obstructed license plate, and something else.

He refused to give up his license. Then when he did, he snatched it back before the officer was done writing the information down, saying "Give me back my license, you f**, b*!"

The African-American officer also called the cop a "boy" on numerous occasions. I'm guessing if the roles were reversed, that cop would never be working again.

Back-ups were called. This off-duty cop got maced, and arrested. And, all charges ended up being dropped.

He was suspended for a week. Of course, he played the race card in court. Although, he never once brought up race during the time the officers pulled him over. And the officers said, if he would've initially said he was a cop and shown his badge and license, they would've let him go on his way. But he started off with attitude.

When the jury looked at the case, they dismissed 3 of the 4 charges against this angry cop, too. Incredible. You watch the film, and you don't understand how this guy wasn't shot. He was being so aggressive towards these 3 uniformed cops.

Then, there's R. Kelly. The rapper that had video with underage girls. Supposedly. I have to include that, or my editors will have heart attacks. As will our lawyers.

That case drags on for nearly a decade, and he gets off.

Maybe I should've picked a different choice of words.

Anyway, I won't even describe what the video contains. But, I will say this. Who cares if the girl (now 24), didn't want to testify. Subpeona her. And, how hard is it to fathom, that she was paid off?

Again, our system sucks. It really does. And Fred and everyone else, you can start posting that it's better to have this system, so we don't wrongly jail innocent people. But, I personally disagree. I'm tired of watching guilty people...day after day...walk free.

I want to see a show where Chris Hanson walks backstage at an R. Kelly concert and says, "Those three girls you have there, Mr. Kelly. Or should can I call you R? Did you check their IDs? Or do you just grab them out of the front row, without a care in the world?"

Our legal system needs to change. And it needs to change now. And, if that means the occasional innocent one gets jailed, so be it.
