Why do the Avengers exist? I mean, why does this team of superheroes exist? I mean, besides reasons of marketing? Samuel Jackson (as Nick Fury, agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.) has an answer: "There was an idea to bring together a group of remarkable people so that when we needed them, they could fight the battles that we never could."
That line should be engraved into steel plates and sold to aspiring screenwriters everywhere. "Once upon a time, there was an idea..."
