Tonight,
we’ll ride the yellow rocky canoe.
With its commanding presence,
You wouldn’t think its light, a borrowed.
It’s as if it, on its own,
has a life. //
The stern looking at us--
Thwart to connect.
The ribs broken--
Hard to maneuver. //
Yoke throttles. //
The only thing we share
Is this yellow rocky canoe.
The starboard, our bridge,
So vast,
but so few. //
The sail hasn’t been easy,
But my love, it will be.
I know it will be.
You’ll see. //
For now,
You’ll be on your deck
And I’ll be on mine.
As we ride the night,
We’ll leave no wake.
