Update Little Falls 3/08/2010
I don't know where you're getting your information from, but Lynn is not the first chief of the Mohegan tribe since 1723. The Mohegan Tribe has had standing chiefs from today going all the way back to the 1600s when the Chief Uncas separated from the Pequot Tribe and formed the Mohegan Tribe. In the 20th century alone, the tribe had the following chiefs: Chief Henry Mathews / Wegun 1902-1903 Chief Lemuel Fielding / Occum 1903-1928 Chief Everett Fielding 1929-1935 Chief Julian Harris / Peegee Uncas 1935-1937 Chief Burrill Fielding / Matahga 1937-1952 Chief Harold A. Tantaquidgeon 1952-1970 Chief Courtland Fowler / Little Hatchet 1970-1989 And finally, Chief Ralph W. Sturges / G’tinemong 1992-2007 The tribe has gone without a chief since the passing of G'tinemong in 2007 to provide for an honorary mourning period, and allow for the council of elders to decide on who should follow such an important man, in a very important and respected position. Perhaps you should do a little more research before adding statements such as these.
