Hooray for Hollywood
Dem and Repub presidents have always done the bidding of the corps that got them elected. But I would say less so in the case of democrats because they get the substantial percentage of the disenfranchised vote. If Carter could run again, I'd vote for him today.— June 11, 2009 6:53 p.m.
Hooray for Hollywood
Josh...if educators lean towards the liberal and democratic, why do you think that is? Perhaps education itself has a liberal bias? Or perhaps conservatives/republicans head for the money jobs. I can only speak from personal experience but I don't recall my calculus professor going on and on about Reagan when I was in college in the early 80's. And please do not cite any "statistics" by David Horowitz who I assume is a favorite guest on the conservative talk shows when the subject of liberal professors pushing socialism on unsuspecting students come up. And how does Michael Moore not donating his money have anything to do with his movies? He's a capitalist as well as a member of the NRA. I think Miss Daniels, as usual, has made some valid points. I would love to hear your liberal ACLU lawyer friend respond personally. I'm sure he or she could hold up their side of the argument well. And speaking of Reagan, refried tell me it isn't so. You voted for Reagan twice? And you're a Python fan? : ) The damage that man has done to this country is incalculable. No amount of republican revisionist history will change that. The worst of which is his getting into bed with the moral majority. Thirty years later the christian taliban has total control of the republican party as they try to take us back to the 1700's. Even someone like John McCain, who I'm certainly glad lost, has to jump through hoops for them.— June 11, 2009 5:58 a.m.
The Flight of the Conchords
Arj and the 1930's porno bit was funny but Dana Carvey had the Jimmy Stewart sex thing first ("yeah, do me bitch") The Simon and Garfunkel episode was one of the better shows in the second season. Especially with Art coming in at the end. And Chloe from 24 who started out in comedy and was in Mr. Show. I still feel there was a huge drop off in the second season, show and songs, like they were trying hard to not repeat themselves. Like a band that uses up all their good songs they wrote over the course of years for the first album and then have to come up with something fast on the second one. And I'm personally getting a little tired of Murray. Although I was hoping he'd introduce the band but I'm sure he has other acting commitments. I'm still willing to watch if there is another season.— May 21, 2009 4:33 p.m.
The Flight of the Conchords
Saw the show with the girlfriend. Became hooked during the first season but the second one was disappointing. How much further can they go with their act? Show was still entertaining. We were both disappointed that they didn't do the if that's what you're into song. And we were sitting in the back on the most uncomfortable benches ever imagined. Who the hell devised the seating for that place??!!— May 21, 2009 3:48 p.m.
Banana Attack
Yes spam is from Python. Get some speakers and google it : ) I think the ken theater had some spam thing going on when they showed a python movie or something. Before my CA days I think but I remember seeing some pictures in the theater somewhere and now I can't recall if it's still there. I know python was at the hollywood bowl but that was back in 1980 or so. Eric Idle was touring a while ago. It was called the Greedy Bastard tour. I missed it though. He recently was at the George Harrison Hollywood Blvd star ceremony and spoke a little. "Not many people know that George died at Paul McCartney's house which is one reason why I never go to John Cleese's house." Forgot if we've mentioned the Rutles but it's essential viewing for any Beatles/Python fan. "Always look on the bright side of life." (cue whistling)— May 19, 2009 11:37 p.m.

Yeah three's company was bad. Happy days is pretty bad too having seen it recently. But Suzanne Somers was HOT back then. Still beautiful. I remember reading somewhere (Loni's book? must have been) that she and Gary Sandy had a thing during the show. Also Marilu Henner (another hottie who I think looked better a little heavier then than she does now) did the nasty with both Tony Danza and Judd Hirsch if I remember correctly from skimming her book. I think she also dated Travolta and was married to Frederick Forrest from Apocalypse Now.— May 19, 2009 11:28 p.m.

I didn't know she was married to him. Definitely a step down with Babs. Where is she today? (I guess I could look her up.) I know Loni was more hair and package rather than beautiful, but still. Back then with the hormones kicking in... Charley's Angels, Suzanne Somers, even Joyce DeWitt, and Loni. I'm one of the few guys I know that prefers Ginger over Mary Anne.— May 19, 2009 7:53 p.m.

I like Welcome Back and even the Love Boat theme. It just triggers an automatic flashback to my teen years. Ditto Happy Days and Laverne and Shirley. And WKRP. The old major 7th chord at the end. Oh Loni circa 1979. And Bailey was hot too.— May 19, 2009 1:37 a.m.
