Interpretation of death and healing
Jacob - thank you for the correction! And, yes: Keith A. Thompson was magnificent :)— October 10, 2015 9:39 a.m.
Sheriff reportedly plotting mayor's ouster got funds from Lynch, Blue, hotel interests, report says
How many of these women do you know / have met? You know the thing about a quiet military town by the sea? It's ironically small. I'd drop those quotes if I were you. Your disdain for women is glaring.— August 7, 2013 9:50 a.m.
Sheriff reportedly plotting mayor's ouster got funds from Lynch, Blue, hotel interests, report says
Oh, so sexual assault is a character flaw? Perhaps you need a vocabulary lesson, but "aggressive behavior with women" does not include: - Kissing them against their wishes. - Grabbing their butts. - Putting your hands on them, unsolicited, in any way - especially when there is a difference in power dynamic between you and said grab-ee. - Hitting on sexual assault survivors at a veteran's benefit. - Asking for a date in exchange for helping a wounded Marine. - Using the power of your office to get women alone, hit on them, and hold the work you may do for them over their heads. No, that boils down to sexual assault and an "egregious misuse of office." Check your narrative frame. It's severely flawed.— August 7, 2013 9:48 a.m.
Sheriff reportedly plotting mayor's ouster got funds from Lynch, Blue, hotel interests, report says
Former Filner supporter here. The Sheriff's Office was tasked to set up the hotline because, being under the jurisdiction of the Mayor's office, the police could not. So, is Kamala Harris now an anti-Filnerite who is drudging up arcane laws out of a vindictive need to remove a foe? Make her yet another Democrat to sing for the choir of Filner's removal. Because, this is so not a partisan deal: both sides of the aisle want him gone. NOW. How about this: The guy is a problem. He is costing this city politically, economically, and business-wise. He is facing trial for sexual harassment - and, having put his hands and other body parts where they are not wanted - is likely guilty of sexual assault as well. If you don't like that his political enemies are coming after him now, how about reserve just a little bit of disdain for him for making it so darn easy for them. Because, no matter how you slice it - Filner is the reason for this. Filner alone. At this point, defenders are just as desperate and delusional as he is.— August 7, 2013 9:39 a.m.
Sheriff reportedly plotting mayor's ouster got funds from Lynch, Blue, hotel interests, report says
This is totally laughable. Basically, your "reporting" boils down to: the elected sheriff who has received a few hundred bucks from both sides of the aisle, is working with the Democratic state attorney general's office to resolve a problem created by a stubborn mayor who is not only a blight on our city, but a political and economic liability. No matter your "Machiavellian" adjectives, the details aren't so shocking. Like hyperbole? Go work for Upworthy. Hitting on sexual abuse survivors at a veteran's benefit is an "egregious misconduct in office." Using your position of power to lick someone's face is an "egregious misconduct in office." Asking for intimate favors in exchange for helping a wounded vet is an "egregious misconduct in office." If Filner won't step down, the state attorney general has every right to drudge up a law to investigate these allegations via the legal process she is afforded - arcane or not - for the interests of the city, the reputation of the state, and the integrity of her party - which is suffering politically because of Filner's delusions of grandeur.— August 7, 2013 9:30 a.m.
Cafe Bleu is stuck
Cafe Bleu still has better mussels and steak frites than Cafe Chloe - and for almost half the price. And, you can't beat their hospitality. For a neighborhood joint (and, there are many great restaurants to choose from in Mission Hills / Hillcrest), I rate them one of the best in terms of food quality at more than reasonable prices - and without the pretension of a lot of other places. The portions are more than generous, and for $13.95, the Coq Au Vin is "good" enough to be at LEAST $5 more.— December 21, 2012 9:03 p.m.
I was a safety ambassador in downtown San Diego
Finally - a voice of truth! A Tri-City native myself, people are earnestly shocked when I tell them there is more to North County San Diego than sandy beaches and laid back surfers. A lot more. Drunken beach fights - check. Meth houses - check. Double homicide - check. DEA agents breaking in my neighbors windows 5 feet from me - check. And this was all before I was 7. Maybe if the CVB painted an accurate picture, the next batch of east coast transplants that hope to descend upon our great county and quickly cop an unwarranted, though vocal disdain for locals will head to Laguna Beach instead. Here's hoping.— July 29, 2009 3:02 p.m.
