Clouds Gone Wild
Thank you for the video! I am on the East Coast and get my San Diego fix by reading the Reader and all the little stories that stir wonderful memories for me. I miss San Diego so much!— June 4, 2009 2:54 p.m.
BBQ Ban Next for O.B.?
I guess it is better than burying the coals in the sand. Just as dumb...but better?— June 3, 2009 2:52 p.m.
Have you ever kept a New Year's resolution?
It is best to not make resolutions. Most people don't follow through. I can honestly say I have never made a resolution.— May 31, 2009 3:25 p.m.
What's the first concert you saw?
Ooopss...I forgot Jan and Dean. Saw themm at the zoo when they were filming some kind of film for a tv special. We got free tickets (it was at the Civic Center also) Aaahhh...the good old days!— May 31, 2009 3:11 p.m.
What's the first concert you saw?
Let me date myself...my first concert was The Turtles at the Civic Center. Several years after that, the really good concerts started. Crosby, Stills, Nash at Balboa Stadium, Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull, the Who(the tickets were 4.50/5.50/6.50...if any higher, definitely NOT over 10.00!) My son's first concert (that I took him to) was the Scorpions at the Sports Arena.— May 31, 2009 3:10 p.m.
What's your phobia?
Cockroaches!!!— May 31, 2009 3 p.m.
Will San Diego voters turn over 60 acres to the Alex Spanos and the Chargers?
I grew up in the San Diego with three dairy farms, pony rides, and highway 80 was two lanes in each direction. I watched as the dairies disappeared, shopping centers grew and every patch of land seemed to have some type of development on it. It was sad...I used to go up to Presidio Park or Hawley point and look down on the valley. I know you can't stop progress, but people should think. I have been away for awhile, but, Mission Valley has a river running through it...it floods. I do remember one year the movie theater flooding, and I remember people drowning when they tried to drive across Texas Street or the curve down by the San Diego Mission de Alcala. Mother Nature shows no mercy. There must be some open land somewhere, away from the Valley!— May 17, 2009 1:10 p.m.
Birdland, San Diego -- what was once old is new again
I have been away from San Diego for 7 years...moved to Massachusetts for a love I thought was "it." I was wrong..and I think of home so often. I grew up in Serra Mesa, on Cabrillo Mesa Drive..right behind the post office. San Diego will always be home, and I will get back there, one way or another! I love reading these stories of home..thank you for sharing!!— May 17, 2009 12:23 p.m.
Julio’s Gone, Not Forgotten
One of the things I miss most about San Diego is good Mexican food! I haven't found any in Massachusetts yet, though I have tried. Julio's brings back memories...thank goodness there are so many other decent places to take its place. I am so very homesick!— April 22, 2009 11:44 a.m.
Amtrak Management Train Wreck
Native San Diegan...big Red Sox fan!— April 16, 2009 5:06 p.m.
