ALDI's sixth San Diego County store
.... Shoppers are respected by the store (and others shoppers). I think the City of Encinitas hate the idea of allowing"their" residents with desirable shopping experience and great prices. They've delayed it with a vengeance. The building where ALDI's was going in, looks like they just went through a huge earthquake or a war.— March 8, 2019 12:04 a.m.
ALDI's sixth San Diego County store
Grocery Outlet is great but rather small and limited in selection, plus it far away. Winco is huge but limited to an extent, plus they have down-scale items that appeal to those who would do themselves no favors to their life and health. When I asked about tabulli or cous cous, etc. they didn't have a clue because they didn't carry those kind of item - the things I like. They have a huge amount of pizzas, for example, but very few selections, so it's like shopping in a grocery store 30 years ago, like imagine you can only eat food from the 50's. Just the names tell you a lot, like Winco, or Walmart. I love Aldi's. My reaction was both glee, joy and amazement, but also amazement, irritation and alienation from seeing all the great prices that made the Standard American Diet (S.A.D.) regular grocery stores seem ridiculously over-priced. In fact, I'm thinking that the official leader that we elected sabotage them in harrasing and delaying their opening. And really wealthy people go to shop there besides the practical and frugal. And it doesn't take 5 minutes or whatever to simply just walk across to the other side of the store, plus you get out of there quick because don't ponder which brand to fret about to buy. Win, win. Less crowded aisles! And shoppers are happier in Aldi— March 7, 2019 11:52 p.m.
Encinitas schools have scrubbed their yoga programs clean
Oh yeah? Every man's got to have a belief! And I believe I'll...have another beer! If it's good enough for Homer Simpson, then it's good enough for me! Ever notice how so many kids (don't know the percentage) love yoga. Perhaps they see their parents (or mom) get so much out of it, they realize how great it would be for them, making them feel better, look better, stay young in body & mind, keep slender, be popular, be focused & successful & a force to be respected in a positive way. Yep, no bullies the yoga way, just a strong tendency if not a mandate to respect & get along with others. NO wonder some are so down on it - it might lead to peace, abundance, happiness & harmony throughout the world. And singing like a bunch of hippies! Oh my! It's like Joseph Campbell's dad saying about Joseph following his bliss - "you can't have that", as if that were Incomprehensible & the most dangerous thing. And usually (?) the so called "liberal" corporate (hello???) media is against functioning government that's not corrupt, being the so-called defenders of religion & all that's thought & promoted to be good, virtuous & just - oh yeah.— November 8, 2015 12:11 a.m.
Carlsbad fire official designates potential crime scene
You know you're NOT a nutcase when you blame nutcases for whatever. If a person knows smoking is bad for their body, would a sane person not assume that they'd might do other bad if not rebellious acts, such as smoking in a non-smoking zone, angrily acting out their not so passive aggressive ways such as arrogantly flicking their burning butts anywhere they darn well want to? I see it all the time. When there are so many nutcases, nutcases seem normal & sane, but they aren't. All it takes is one out of a million or gazillion times when someone finishes a cigarette or cigar & people die, homes & condo are burn to the ground, millions of dollars are wasted along with countless hours of firemen, residents, newsmen & their readers. But let's preserve the smoking business to fund our government with mega-taxes & to run our government of "free enterprise" so we can have knowledgeable citizen voters who support the business as usual where we all disrespect our bought-out elected officials.— May 20, 2015 4:04 p.m.

Like most everything else in America, so-called yoga is quite often nothing more than spiritual materialism, IE. a way to make money & to be "successful". Plus it's like other worldly pursuits, it's not 100% pure of anything & comes with ego enhancements & a clique culture of us & them - but not always so. I've know lots of people who've tried yoga & invariably they love it. Why, because it works & is fruitful. Nothing wrong with controversy & dissent. (And isn't that what "the good book" says about so-called Christians - that you'll know them by their fruits? The naysayers don't know their religion, don't practice it, & are more anti-Christian (anti-Christ) than anybody is willing to say so. And I love them all who walk the real talk.)— May 6, 2015 2:42 p.m.

Maybe to you/us, but $3.3 million is a drop in the basket, tax-write-off, public relations strategy for many in the 1 percent group like with the Bill & Melinda Gate Foundation.— May 6, 2015 2:25 p.m.
