Sunrise Trailhead, Soapstone Loop
Inspired by this article, I did this hike today for the first time--it was great! (I also checked out the Fages monument.) There's a big pile of flat rocks overlooking the expansive meadow about 4 miles in where I stopped for lunch--terrific vistas all around. I was surprised that it wasn't as warm as my recent meanderings to the west (Iron Mountain, Cowles, Blue Sky) but as you reported the elevation works in our favor. Thanks to both the Reader and SDNHM's Canyoneers for this accurate and timely trail info!— August 24, 2013 6:34 p.m.
