Landslide of mailers in Chula Vista for one 80th district assembly candidate
I was not able to attend the Chula Vista forum this past week, but several people who did found little information from Lorena Gonzalez. When asked the most notable things that those in attendance could recall, they included her cleavage, her extreme rudeness to the forum's moderator, and the thug-like gang she brought along to cheer her on.— May 20, 2013 2:56 p.m.
Latest plans for ill-fated L Street land deal
One of the responses suggested we find out who the other "partners" are, as in " Marc Litchman of Plan Nine Partners LLC." I was in a meeting with Mr. Litchman and we asked him that question. There are NO partners -- Mr. Litchman is the single entrepreneur. He told us the story of where the name "Nine Partners" came from, but I have forgotten it.— April 10, 2013 7:33 p.m.
Strange South Bay Bedfellows
Cheryl Cox is a bully! As she so desperately tries to stitch together something she can call her legacy, she is ending up damaging Greg's well-earned legacy. Every day he looks more and more like an influence peddler. I recall former Mayor Steve Padilla warning us about pillow-talk between the Mayor and the Supervisor.— April 5, 2013 9:38 p.m.
Before the DA's investigation of Sweetwater school district...
If you were not concerned about the students in SUHSD, this clash of the titans would be the best show in town. Almost everyone by now knows that Cheryl Cox wants Brand's job when she has "saved" the City of Chula Vista by the end of her Mayoral term. mko is working diligently at furthering Cheryl's takeover of the SUHSD.— March 20, 2013 8:45 p.m.
County supervisors quietly assign selves lucrative board gigs
AND -- you left out Greg Cox's wife, Cheryl Cox, who as Mayor of Chula Vista appointed herself to the SANDAG Board also -- chalk up another $4,800 a year to the Cox household.— February 27, 2013 9:20 p.m.
Chula Vista librarian Donna Golden retires
As a long-time volunteer in the Chula Vista Heritage Museum, and on behalf of my fellow volunteers in the Museum, I want to acknowledge how important Donna Golden has been to the life of the Museum. Without her extensive knowledge of the Library's collection of photographs and the exhibits she designed, we would have been hard pressed to put on much of an exhibit. When Frank Roseman and I decided to write the "Chula Vista History" pictorial book in the Arcadia series, I struggled with the outline. I wanted to do the chapters in chronological order. But with the photographs we had, we could not have had equal-length chapters. Susan came up with an organization of the chapters by function, instead, and that saved the day. I thought the finished product was very nice. When I first found about about Donna retiring, that led to a panic meeting with Betty Waznis, the Head Librarian -- what do we do now? Betty assured me that life would go on, and that we had full access to what we needed, and a person had been trained to know the photograph collection Still, I will miss Donna very much. Another delay for arraignments in South Bay corruption probe
Bonnie Dumanis should have bought the Big Red Tent that they were auctioning off at the Del Mar Racetrack yesterday, so there would be room for everyone associated with this sorry three-ring circus!— January 30, 2013 6:27 p.m.
Documents hint at Sweetwater board’s diners’ club
OMG! So glad you are back, Susan Luzzaro. Your voice in the South Bay is invaluable to those of us who want to know the hard facts. Thank you, Susan and The READER.— January 12, 2013 11:28 a.m.

Sweetwater University to “Open” Soon?
"Grand Canyon University's" on-line service sounds a lot like the explosion of similar gimmics by many people to separate people from their money via government student loans. Southwestern College, here in Chula Vista, offers the same opportunity for a small fee. What a shame, what a sham.— November 28, 2012 9:49 p.m.
