Point Loma Sprouts fires longtime employee for alleged theft
I have been a shopper there for a few years..and I know an employee actually. I don't know (like with any news story) what all the facts are. But I do know this: Ian demonstrated SUPERIOR customer service at this store every time I encountered him there. I enjoyed his positive attitude, his willingness to help, and if you ever heard him announcing daily specials over the mic, well, you know he was astute too. If the facts are reported accurately I am going to have to probably shift my weekly consumption of one to two turkey sandwiches on multi-grain somewhere else. I will miss the trail mix too if I do a full-on boycott, such is life. The produce is decent, and you can find extra ripe hipsters at the one on Park st.— May 17, 2013 12:34 p.m.
Sheriff's Department busts two rural marijuana grows
Similar to the process of making methamphetamine? Isolating THC with rubbing alcohol is similar to making crystal meth? Are you daft? I am not happy to see inaccurate journalism, fear pandering and incorrect grammar in the SD Reader article above. How dare you associate someone making "honey oil" (rubbing alcohol & dried cannabis) with the process of someone manufacturing methamphetamine. If I was the accused I would sue you for defamation of character. "Honey Oil" is made using ONE compound, rubbing alcohol. Yes, the vapors from that are flammable and could ignite then again so could your Rain X . We better suppress the hundred's of products marketed under that nefarious compound before we all, well, explode. You also chose to cite "The Midway" caper as well as being" tied to the process". LOL what kind of bull-shit, half-stepping, crap comment is that?..Did you mean where the situation where people were accused of making butane honey oil? How is it tied to that process? WAY TO GO GR8 REPORTING YOU GET AN A BUT IT ISN"T FOR ACCURACY.— March 6, 2013 8:59 p.m.

Nice post..Of course if the "trolls" exist..their must also be "Ogres"..In this case, an Ogre is a business owner [mad about the global recession and looking to take it out on a lazy skateboarder], "local" Obecian [born under the pier], or a current self-righteous liberal OB "person" that is so spoiled and full from overpriced beer and pizza at Pizza Port that they forgot that while acting like a hippie in So Cal is di reguer you are also supposed to support other hippies and help scrounge for food, change, weeed etc. Duh.— December 21, 2010 12:30 p.m.
Looking for work has become the new work
I thought it was an interesting article from the job-seeker perspective. Very accurate. I have held innumerable jobs in my life, and my ambition got me back to SD my hometown 3 years ago. Good picture of what entry-level type work is like here.Anyways- the comments about OB were SPOT ON. I say if you want to come to SD and rock it come CREATE your OWN #$#$ JOB. Have a nice day~ PS- Bartending in this economy? Doesn't sound that lucrative but I guess summer is coming and so are more Le Tigres... PPSS the comments by Native619 were hilarious...Drink that rot gut up visitors!— June 14, 2010 12:16 p.m.

Dhani, Like Danny, Like Daddy
I have found this section to be sadly lacking since my return to SD almost two years ago due to what I perceive as constant omission of high-level national act's (or newer, regional ones') appearing locally. I could cite places like Winston's & Gallagher's & Portugalia in OB but those are only by personal and immediate recollective bias (new word?). I will cite one instance as Blue Turtle Seduction playing this evening, a well-known national touring act, at a reasonable price no less. Possibly $10? Consider this an addendum to the column. Perhaps those that author this section are not giving the subject appropriate attention?— April 10, 2009 2:17 p.m.
