Goodby Comic Con
I first began attending the Comicon in 1975 and attended every year until this year. For the last several years the thought of attending this overcrowded extravaganza just became more and more depressing. A comicon is supposed to be fun. Fighting your way through suffocating crowds is not the definition of fun, especially when I remember when the convention was actually fun. When attendence hit 80,000 a few years ago that was really bulging at the seams. Boasting an attendance of 125,000 before the doors even opened was just a big KEEP AWAY sign to me. The story of a security guard hassling a kid because he was walking back and forth was just too depressing for words. Comicon is now unrecognizeable to me.— August 15, 2008 8:18 a.m.
