At work on Christmas
Most of the time my Musician boyfriend has Christmas off. This year he picked up a last minute extra gig for Humphrey's Christmas Brunch. We don't have kids running around so celebrating Christmas on Christmas is no big deal. He took the gig gladly! Longest gig he's ever played... seven hours!!— December 27, 2014 2:45 p.m.
Blame the geeks
That's because Europe thought ahead and designed it so you can actually get from where you are to where you need to go. San Diego's system is a joke and I don't see it improving any time soon. I can NOT get where I need to go without a car.— December 27, 2014 2:32 p.m.
Beware novelty on the 15
It is customary for a Japanese establishment to have one of these cat figurines welcoming you in the door. It's called Menaki-Neko translated literally as Beckoning Cat. The are supposed to bring in good fortune to the business. These days you will see a Menaki-Neko in many Chinese and other Asian businesses, but Menaki-Neko is of Japanese origin.— December 27, 2014 2:24 p.m.
Transient Problem at North Park’s Albertsons
Some day you or I might just ***BE*** one of those 'transients' with no home and nowhere to go. They have to be somewhere, for cryin' out loud! You want to blame the homeless for poor sanitation etc. but when you are homeless no place of business will let you use the restroom. Where are you supposed to go? In your pants? Public use trash cans are far and few between, so what are they supposed to do? Now you want to blame the grocery store for homeless people being around? Since when is the homeless 'problem' their responsibility? Have a heart. man! It's not always the homeless either. I see plenty of finely dressed people throwing uneaten food and trash on the ground. And, I've seen plenty of well dressed, obviously not homeless men sneak beside or behind a building to take a leak.— December 27, 2014 2:07 p.m.
Aubrey Fay
Smooth Jazz only? Are you kidding me?? Aubrey is Funk, Soul, R&B, and Blues and some of the old standard Jazz and American Songbook standards.. He can go the smooth jazz route but that certainly is NOT all he does. Ever seen a room full of people dancing and jamming to to smooth jazz? Oh heck no! Aubrey gets people on their feet and dancing the night away!! As for his influences, everything written above, by The Reader, is WAY off the mark! Who in the heck listed all those female artists as his influences?? (Rolls eyes) Try Lou Rawls, Barry White and a ton of others in the R&B genera His main instrument these days is Trombone. He also plays drums pretty darned good too. Probably plays keys too but I've never seen him playing keys on stage. Aubrey is a front man and does it better than most. He's got a rich set of pipes that make the ladies swoon and the guys envious. Go see for yourself. Try the Humphrey's brunch on Sundays, from 10 AM to 2 PM. Aubrey is there once a month. Check Humphrey's website for the dates. Then you can ask Aubrey where he's playing at night!— December 27, 2014 12:26 p.m.
