Car windows smashed in Ocean Beach

Boy, between smashed car windows, vandalized gardens, and parrots being executed, Ocean Beach sure seems like a wonderful place to live. I guess dead dogs are next. I know most Obecians are not happy with what is going on, but no one seems to be able to do anything about it. No one ever sees anything or hears anything. I heard a new police shed was put in to replace the old one. A lot of good that is doing. People complained about the Big Brother cameras being installed, but I don't see how any of this crap is going to be stopped without 24/7 eyes. Probably no one checking the video anyway.

Hey, Bernie: Hillary has diddled with Wall Street

Flapper, Not sure what Warren's strategy is. She seems to be happy doing what she is doing in the Senate: going after the banks and other bad guys and trying to do good for working folk. If Sanders campaign had really caught fire, she might have not been able to resist a draft movement to get her on board as his running mate. The problem is Warren is reluctant to step on her big sister's toes and like too many others, believes that perhaps it is Hillary's "turn." IMHO, a huuuuuuge wasted opportunity. Everyone needs to remember what The Who said: Don't be fooled again!

Hey, Bernie: Hillary has diddled with Wall Street

Don, I hope you don't mind my forwarding your article to the Sanders campaign. I know everyone says they know about this already but you would be surprised how a campaign can get so crazy they lose sight of certain details. I could not agree more about holding our noses while we vote for Hillary (if she is our only choice), but considering how the Democratic party has failed their constituents so miserably, why shouldn't we prefer to vote for a socialist? If the Republicans yell Socialist, we can always yell Fascist. Even our great black hope, Barack Obama, let us down and gave up his ideals, failing to get even minimal control over the mad dogs of corporate greed. It is a sad day to see our only choice a shill for Wall St. Bernie is the only one speaking for working people. We blow this, then I guess we deserve another eight years of nothing or worse. Elizabeth Warren seems to be the only one to have the cajones to slip a leash on these insatiable mutts.

Gay Pride kilt case isn't over yet

If they are going to start arresting people for wearing nothing more than a thong, they better have extra large police wagons because Mission Beach and Pacific Beach are loaded with cute young things wearing nothing but a patch and some butt floss and even less at Black's Beach. Personally, I think they are ruining everything for everybody. Since when did the cops get so puritanical? This isn't Utah.

Another day, another Otay Mesa drug tunnel

2,242 pounds? Whew, that's a lot of snoot, Don. Cartel is going to be miffed. Watch for the heads to roll in TJ. In the meantime, someone should find out who these tunnel dogs are and get them to work on the Carrizo railway. They could probably cut a new tunnel through the mountains and eliminate the complications of the line going south of the border.

"America is neither right nor left," Say what? I've never seen this country as polarized as it is now. Congress can't even agree on what time it is. Trumpers and Sanderistas both reject the status quo, pulling in opposite directions. And the center? Nobody is in the mood for centrist ideas. It's pretty much nonexistent.

Still no showers at San Diego state beaches

This water conservation business is a complete joke. Who ever heard of a municipality experiencing a water shortage dumping billions of gallons of treated water into a reservoir (which then means it has to be treated again)? I cannot believe the folks involved with managing the water are complete idiots, so I'm more inclined to think the water shortage is actually a fraud. Yes, we are in a drought, but no, there is no water shortage. It's a con, and no doubt for the money. Plus, the local honchos have realized that if they can shut off public water sources, such as showers and fountains, they can save $ on maintenance and blame the shortage. The public gets screwed of course, and we take another small step toward becoming a third-rate city in a third world country.

AMC don't text

Scott, Unlike your Best of 2015 list, I can unequivocally agree with you on this. These dimwits who insist on booting up during the movie should be dragged from the theater and have their heads pressed against the hot dog rollers. Even that would be too kind. I cannot believe this behavior still goes on. I have learned however, to avoid the AMC's (they seem to attract the mental-lites), especially during prime time (evenings and weekends). I wish we could have something like they do for that guy on "Better Call Saul," where everyone is required to turn in their cell before entering the room. That would be wonderful. I actually took the time once, after the movie, to explain to a young man why it is wrong to turn on your cellphone during the movie. I explained that what we pay our money for is not to sit in a smelly dark room with strangers, but instead to be transformed by the film makers vision to a different place and time. And if the film is a good one, and the film maker has succeeded, we forget where we are and are immersed in what John Gardner (in the Art of Fiction) called, the fictive dream. When some halfwit opens their cellphone, we are pulled from that dream and brought back to that smelly dark place occupied by dimwiits with bright phones. I don't know if he got it. I don't know if any of them get it. Thank God, AMC backed off on this cockamamie idea. I'm really starting to wonder if the days of the big screens are numbered due to a combination of technology and ignorance.

San Diego cops a deal for online espionage

I don't like where this "surveillance" is going. I suppose the question we have to ask ourselves is, how much privacy are we willing to give up in order to prevent the next 9/11? That's the dilemma. Today I got an "amber alert" on my cell phone about some car being sought up north of SD. When did I become a member of law enforcement? Did my cell phone company volunteer my services? It's creepy how this police state is slowing seeping into our everyday lives. Not good. What happens when they can prove that you received some information about a possible crime and you failed to report it? Yea, I know; sieg heil.
