Sweetwater trustee reports stolen property to police
Frankly, the truth is rather sad: McCann knows the South Bay electorate and their overwhelming disregard for politics and elections. These and other antics did nothing more than further that sentiment among far too many. McCann knows that money and name i.d. in the South-bay are ALL you need -- period! Take the dollars; promote yourself and use these resources to destroy your opponent. However, the primary goal is to NOT have a serious opponent. The specter of campaign cash and a political will to do whatever causes our best and brightest to not engage in politics either as a candidate or a voter. Why is it so? Because most people don't take the time to study; read, and employ unbiased logic to validate decisions that are important to all of us.— June 19, 2013 12:55 p.m.
Sweetwater board candidate has his sign damaged
Jaime Mercado is an honrable man and deserves your vote and support. I say this because i consider him a friend of mine and of all that care passionalely about educating our children.— June 10, 2013 2:38 p.m.

“She would come out to the job site and she would reprimand us for not wearing boots, but she would come out in a miniskirt and high heels.” —Jeffrey Taylor, sales manager for ATG Electronics, LED Lighting Co., on Sweetwater board member Pearl Quinones. Vol 21, page 315 I have known Pearl for quite some time, and as for the bald faced LIE that was entered into the record above, ANYONE who really knows Pearl, also knows that she DOES NOT wear mini-skirts! NEVER! NUNCA! NYET! For the record, Pearl Quinones and I are not friends, we are VERY good friends! She is not perfect, who is?— June 8, 2013 6:03 a.m.

WTFED: At least I have the TAMARITY to use my name; not all bloggers here can say the same. By the way, the name is spelled CASTANEDA. However given the frequency of your typos...— June 8, 2013 5:58 a.m.

I can appreciate HARD evidence, but it seems that these two will simply paint a bombastic, subjective picture of an unsavory environment at Sweetwater that is indicative of the way Sweetwater does business. I don't like the way they do business, you don't like it. However, in this country there is the presumption of...Take that testimony, for what it is worth, in a courtroom and 10 cents and you have a doughnut. That experience of these two contractors is NOT hard evidence of bribery. Nor is this UNETHICAL behavior illegal until the "smoking gun" is revealed. Maybe there is more -- I hope to hear or read about it. Rather, these quotes are supposition on the part of this witness as to his opinion - GIVEN HIS INDIVIDUAL EXPERIENCE which may or may not have cause on the part of Sweetwater.. The Judge may allow it, may not. But I am certain the defense will object to that testimony. More opinion as to which I say: Where is the beef?— June 7, 2013 4:02 p.m.

I have been on both sides of the procurement fence when it comes to doing business with government bureaucracies; bottom line is that its not easy, timely nor (in some, but not all of the cases I have been engaged in) -- fair. But as a business owner, and an adult, the choice was mine to put in the time and expense to pursue this "Brand" of new business and everything that comes with it - win or loose. I suggest the Romero Brothers "grow up" and take your wins and losses in the real world out there like a professional and not cry about it to a Grand Jury with innuendo and supposition that will only bill the taxpayers mightily in the end given this legal charade. For all we mortals know, maybe you deserved to loose that business; I don't know, What I do know is that I don't cry to the Grand Jury every time a client is late paying their invoice. It's a tough world out there!— June 7, 2013 7:08 a.m.

I did, apologies. But apparently you have seen the light. This, or previous statements from me are not meant to excuse elected members of the board; heaven knows, there is enough blame to go around, But today's institutional corruption and dysfunction scares me; it truly does. Societies fall apart when people STOP believing in their institutions - if history tells us anything, it tells us that.— April 9, 2013 4:44 p.m.
Latest plans for ill-fated L Street land deal
Before anybody starts yellin: "Hang em High" in the Re-Elect Bonnie Dumanis D.A. courthouse, there are some salient FACTS about this issue that demand reverberation and clarification; they are: #1) Many if not most of the South Bay celebrated the resurrection of Ed Brand's dominace at Sweetwater; #2) This travesty is Brand's and his "go right over the cliff with ya" lieutenants; #3) finally, it is odd, but not really if you know this D.A. -- Ed Brand was neither investigated nor indicted. As for subjective speculation to all yee beleaguered property owners struggling to pay your/his property taxes, be prepared for an Ed Brand increase to Miller Roos, he claims proudly the law allows him to do it without going to the dwindling few that pay the freight. And if he does take the "high road" with another bond campaign, please, in the name of all that is holy vote NO!— April 9, 2013 12:35 p.m.
