Escondido Country Club petition passes unanimously
I have lived in the area for a few years and have played most of the courses in North County. I never played ECC because it had a really bad reputation. The owner was clearly not interested in making it work. I think this will be a mess for a long time to come but there are two guiding principals that will result in a compromise solution. The neighbors of the property have a right to land use that is consistent with the general plan. The owner also has a right to use and develop his property in a way that is consistent with the plan. A compromise solution is needed that allows sufficient development to make a bit of profit for the owner, and pay for the reconfiguration of the balance of the acreage into parks and paths.— September 20, 2013 6:09 p.m.
