#1. OH HOW I WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO EATING HERE! I checked out the web site, picked a day that I was working from home, and drove over to Fix Me a Plate to enjoy a po'boy. I had to make it quick because I needed to return to work. As I drove to this place I thought to myself, "hey self, you have experience working as a concierge, people have told you that you are a pretty good writer, why not start writing some reviews of local restaurants on some web sites?" I could not wait to write a glowing report on this establishment, perhaps take my pseudo-southern mother-in-law to lunch or dinner some night. I bet she would love some dishes that would remind her of her child hood. Alas. . . After searching for a spot in a VERY Busy parking lot I walked into this EMPTY restaurant. It struck me as odd that there was not a person, except the staff, in the place. It was 12:30, typically lunch rush. I'm not the type of person who enjoys eating alone, especially when I'm the only person there. So I thought my best option was to take something to go. The server came up to me and I simply stated that I would like to place an order to go (not an uncommon request these days). The server apologized and stated that they did not do "to go" orders. She was not rude at all, but I could not believe that my request could not be met. "So, bid deal stay there and eat." you say to yourself. This was a restaurant with nicely dressed servers, and a rather nice decor. I was wearing a tee shirt and biker shorts. I've been cleaning my house today! I smell like sweat and Pledge! I just wanted a dang shrimp Po'Boy SANDWICH!, not an elaborate five course meal. My point is this. I'm guessing this place would not say "no" to a person wanting to take some left-overs home. I'm sure they have the proper "disposable equipment" to honor my request. It's not like they were busy. Instead they would rather turn away my money and business then to go that extra "southern hospitality" step to fill a to go order. I'm sure the food is good, I'll just never know. It's just like the owner Jimmy Pomier states "People will give you a shot the first time, it's getting people to come back that counts." Don't think I'll be back. At least the Souplantation had to go boxes.
