Mr. Brand is saying that Ms Adato's campaign limitation proposal cannot be considered because of the restrictive policy adopted that evening. Shouldn't the new policy begin that evening and not be retroactive?

Why wouldn't John McCann support Ms. Adato's resolution? He says that he is in favor of limiting gifts--belatedly. Supporting a limit to campaign donations, or supporting someone who is bringing forward that resolution, seems like a logical extension.

Brand's email is disturbing. When a superintendent has contempt for taxpayers and residents, it's time for him to go.

Eastlaker - I am wondering if there would have been a difference if this was a school on our side of the 805? Dr. Gandara professed his deep interest for the youth, spoke about specific demographics needing the protection of persons like himself. If, as rumored, he signed off on this dumping, it is indeed a crime of dereliction of duty at the very least. All of those at the district who have had knowledge of this situation and failed to act on behalf of the students, staff, and residents should resign immediately. Has anyone contacted State regulators to ensure that they are monitoring this situation, to in effect protect those who will be receiving these toxic substances into their community?

Kudos and thanks to 'Erupting' and the two others who addressed the County Board of Education July 11. I encourage everyone to view the archived video on the CBOE website. You do know the importance of keeping their feet to the fire, because they do not like to be 'called out' and embarrassed, no matter how much they protest that financial oversight just isn't their job. IT IS! and they are shirking that responsibility, if not aiding and abetting the slight of hand at SUHSD.

As many financial irregularities seem to originate with Garcia, Calderon, Ruiz and now Groesbeck, shouldn't there be some discussion of disbarment?

Really, how long should this bunch be able to create turmoil while syphoning funds from school children?

They have established a pattern that is very evident. Why are they allowed to continue in this manner?

Can we stop the educated thieves before they latch onto another gullible school district?

I think the new motto of Sweetwater's majority Board should be, "Sweetwater--where we pretend that all is well, while doing the exact opposite of what we should be doing".

Brand's new motto could be "I make the rules, I give the orders, I run the show, I clear out the bank accounts."

eastlaker Sept. 11, 2012 @ 12:26 p.m.

Maria C. is politically aware enough to do what she is supposed to do--in terms of what Brand wants her to do. She did exactly what Gandara wanted her to do. She is part of Brand's current tactic of hiding behind the secretaries and clerks--Brand might be showing his insecurity here, or he could just be delegating what he doesn't want to deal with. She is very tight with information--in fact, I have attended meetings that she was in charge of, and all notes and papers were confiscated at the end of the meeting, so no one could have a record of what went on.

suhsdteacher, one of the amazing things about following this district, this board, is that for the most part it all seems to happen behind a veil. How is it that right now, people are having to speculate the who, the what, the when about a district superintendent, or interim superintendent? How is it that last night the public was told to channel their inquiries through someone else other than the interim superintendent? Does the public deserve more of an explanation of who is in charge of the district?

LaLucha Sept. 11, 2012 @ 7:57 p.m.

OK this has gone on long enough. WE DON"T WANT BRAND. We NEVER wanted Brand back. Brand has NEVER EVEN LIVED in our district. He is making MILLIONS off of our district, and his OTHER district he was fired from. You want to go into contract deals and payoffs? He made a BUNDLE off the iPad deal, which was ILLEGAL. Kids with iPads paid for by Mello Roos who don't live in Mello Roos area? WHERE is the transparency at Sweetwater? LOOK at the news! You can SEE the CRIMINALS on the Sweetwater School Board IGNORING THE PUBLIC they were voted in to represent. What a bunch of BAFFOONS, spending the money hand over fist, on WHAT? Sweetwater administration makes Bell look like AMATEURS. Brand is OVERPAID to the MAX. Time to POP the PINYATA and get the money back in the classrooms and school programs. Castilleja is a SHREW on a power trip, who will back stab ANYONE who obstructs her from shoveling more $$ into her bank account. Sweetwater School Board is a TOTAL FAILURE. NOBODY is secure in their teaching job. The classrooms are overcrowded. 14 furlough days WERE FORCED ON EVERYONE, and THESE IDIOTS are going to get the district into yet ANOTHER FAILING CONTRACT with ANOTHER money-sucking PROFESSIONAL SCHOOL DISTRICT PARASITE who has made himself a MILLIONAIRE off the money that was meant to educate the youth of SOUTH BAY. Hire LOCAL!!!! GET someone who CARES about SWeetwater. WE WANT A LOCAL for our new superintendent. Hire someone who has been a TEACHER. Hello? NO MORE PARASITES!! No more LEECHES!! No more LIVER FLUKES!! No MORE out- of-town LOSERS!!

Let's not forget that Ms. Pearl is one of the 'elite' of those indicted, whose charges also include extortion (along with Ricasa, Sandoval, Gandara). Even if those other pesky charges seem meaningless to some, extortion is really quite messy because it involves demanding something while in office, or 'under official color' of office. So you see, that she didn't just allow herself to be bribed like the others, but she and her fellow elitists are charged with making demands for things of value. If you will check back to Pearl's quotes in the earlier indictments, she was asking a vendor to support and help her land a well-compensated state commission job, and wrote an e-mail comment to the effect of , "I help those who help me."

So, this is now not surprising that she would have bullies to help her 'enforce' her territory. Seems she believes she 'owns' the public job as well as those who would provide whatever she asks.

Mr. Alex showed a lot of restraint because personally I would have decked him

I would have laid the guy out in a a nanosecond if he tried to get that close to me...........

i heard the guy was an educator in the san ysidro district which is great cause for concern and now it is stated he is a minister. guess he was cut from a different cloth than most ministers and educators. allegedly he has been trying to be hired on at the sweetwater district - NOT someone we need obviously.

while young men can be emotional ms. quinones definitely should have had control of the alleged supporter. fortunately for Ms. Saenz-Gonzalez and her family members no one was hurt.

on a positive note at least Mr. Anguiano did not go running to the board for legal fees like John Mccann did. Mccanns FAILED restraining order cost us approximately $8,000 - but hey what's it to mr. conservative - NOT ---------- it was only our hard earned tax dollars. if you read delgaldos lips he is saying something to the effect of 'you better have alot of money'!!!!! surely mr. delgado knows that teaching does not pay much, and at sweetwater is pays even less - let us not forget the furlough days our educators voted on "for the kids" -

well now we all know what this educator/minister/threatening man looks like - at all costs AVOID HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WTFEd Jan. 22, 2013 @ 10:14 p.m.

Where the hell is our beloved Union Tribune and yes the Voice of San Diego recently on this corrupt administration....this Sweetwater Administration is symbolic of why we need the Social Media and "alternative" media like the Reader to get the word out. If it was not for Susan Luzarro what would we do to keep this in the limelight? Wake up UT..pry yourself away from worring about how Obama will bring down Western Civilization and pay attention to your local community and educating students.

MATY ADATO FOR SUHSD SCHOOL BOARD!!!!!!!!!!!!

while I know that Ms. Adato has fought the good fight out of a genuine concern over how the district has been governed and how our tax dollars have been spent - I do believe it is time for persons such as she to fill the board seats. Hopefully she will consider this recommendation - I mean after all, isn't she, in essence, already doing the job they were elected to do?

Well folks, just when you think you have heard it all - whispers on the street are Indicating that Burt Grossman is preparing to run for the City Council.

Just what we need someone who does not value women, someone who will drop the 'n' word at the drop of a hat and someone who has an issue with gays and lesbians. For verification check his book out of the library - out of his own mouth.

Chula Vista residents, no doubt he will use his x NFL days as a selling point, steroid driven defensive lineman is not a prerequisite for city councilman. Let us not forget we are in the process of cleaning up politics in the South Bay, not adding to the negative perception. Let us also not forget who allegedly supported Grossmans run for school board, Ed Brand. Rumor has it John Mccann was quite enamored with hanging around Grossman.

Let us pray that the whispers are wrong, if not HERE WE GO AGAIN!!!!!!!

timtim, I hope you're not McCann because you would be embarrassing not only yourself (war hero comment), but your wife, daughters, and your church (the insults). You sound like a petulant child. As far as the 300K citizens not writing comments, I was one of them. I have my life (job, family, interests) that keeps me pretty busy. I finally got involved after going to a board meeting and seeing the total disrespect for the community. I didn't want to feel impotent and powerless so I started educating myself. We voted all of you in to take care of school business. We take care of the kids at home, you make sure they're educated. I thought that was the general agreement (compact, if you will) Call me naive, but I thought it really was all about the kids for all of you. You hold the education of children -our future- in your hands. Just stop and think about that for a moment. Think about the enormity of your responsibility. For once I hope that our kids are more interested in social media than in the news. What's been happening here is very sad. What's come out in the grand jury testimony would make anyone - child or adult- feel hopeless. On the other hand, I'm heartened by the small? group of selfless individuals who have been fighting the good fight. (Apostle Paul, "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." 2 Tim. 4:7) Thank you to all those who have chosen to light a candle rather than curse the darkness. Keep shining your light!

Mr. Jaime Mercado, a highly respected former board member did not abandon his seat on the dais to chase down an illegally placed OLD campaign sign. John Mccann totally disrupted the board meeting YET AGAIN, with a temper tantrum. Mccann has history in the realm of temper tantrums, he allegedly aimed his speeding car at a gentlemen he had issues with in a parking lot, he acted out in the district parking lot and called 911 to report an alleged pretend assault which a JUDGE THREW OUT OF COURT with a directive to Mccann to knock it off (paraphrase), and now in this picture he is seen yet again in the parking lot. (Perhaps he should stay out of parking lots since they seem to bring out the worst in him)

Yes, public and elected officials THIS IS WHAT WE ARE HAVING TO DEAL WITH. What the community is wondering is why this emotionally damaged man continues to plague us.

tim tim - no doubt those elected and public officials and VOTERS that are reading this blog are getting a true look at what YOU! JOHN MCCANN aka tim tim is all about.

I am reminded of the Arlo Gutherie song Alice's Restaurant so popular in the 70's. In this case the "violation" is not littering but cleaning up other people's trash left in the public right of way. The question that hasn't been asked is why the signs were out in the first place. There is no election campaign for school board or council. What other motive could be given other than self-promotion. How is the issue of a 3 year old sign more important than participating in the Board presentation regarding the hardening of classrooms in case of a lockdown or crisis and a presentation of the financial condition of the District. The choices made show Mr. McCann's priorities and you have to ask yourself was his reaction reasonable and rational for an adult in his position?
