“2022 was a huge year for the band,” says Travis Barker, longtime drummer for San Diego pop-punk giants blink-182. “First, [bassist and founding member Mark] Hoppus got cancer — which, thankfully, was diagnosed and successfully treated. Then, we got to announce the return of [twice-departed singer Tom] DeLonge in October. Just awesome, earth-shaking stuff. Of course, we had to take advantage of the energy brought on by those momentous moments and record an album. It felt like a return to the good old days. That, combined with Hoppus’ health scare, got us thinking about Nurse Janine [Lindemulder] from Enema of the State. We looked her up, and it turns out she’s still doing her thing just like we’re still doing ours. Putting her on the cover of our latest just made sense.”
