Food trucks cause concern near San Marcos elementary school
John T. Griffith 5:14 p.m., May 22
Que Huong Restaurant
4134 University Avenue, City Heights, 619-281-6008; no website
Hours: Monday–Friday, 11:00 a.m.–midnight; Saturday, 10:00 a.m.–midnight; Sunday, 10:00 a.m.–11:30 p.m.
Fare: Varied menu of Vietnamese dishes
Vibe: Casual, family-style Asian restaurant; televisions on the wall. Service can be leisurely.
Must Try: Fish-sauce chicken wings, snails in coconut water, jackfruit salad, claypot catfish, sautéed wild boar, and did I mention the fish-sauce chicken wings?
Need to know: Limited beer and wine, $10 corkage. Parking in the lot can be horrific when the restaurant is full; street-parking is a better bet. If you have questions, ask for Jay, especially if you want eating instructions for the cha ca or anything with snails. Vietnamese specials are listed on the chalkboard in front of the restaurant.
