Striped marlin off the coast of Carrillo
Striped marlin off the coast of Carrillo

A smallish striped marlin was caught near San Diego last Saturday on a trolled tuna feather. It took the angler 11/2 hours to land the 95 lb fish. (on trolling gear??) No story on why they didn't release it once at leader, as is normally encouraged, but they took the

fish home.

Jimmy Herzog, fishing on an overnight trip on Monday out of Fisherman’s Landing aboard the Fortune, caught a giant bluefin tuna that taped out at 204 pounds onboard the boat. The fish officially weighed 179 pounds at the dock after being bled.
