Iao Valley is a must-see when visiting Maui. Located in central Maui, it's only a 45-minute drive from Kaanapali.

It was there that King Kamehameha I defeated the Maui Army in 1790 and united the Hawaiian Islands, changing the course of Hawaiian history.

Paved walking trails, along with off-the-pavement trails leading deeper into the park, make it accessible for all ages and abilities. The scenery is beautiful, calm and refreshing. Because it's a quick drive, it's quite doable if you have limited time in Maui or if you want to combine multiple sightseeing opportunities.
