Dark Thirty Productions House Concerts
Eucalyptus Hills, Lakeside
When Jimmy Duke throws a concert at his house, it's worth the drive to East County. Eight to ten times a year, the gigs get underway 30 minutes after it gets dark -- hence the name Dark Thirty Productions. Nestled in a grove of fragrant eucalyptus trees, Duke's place is tough to find unless you've got tickets ($10 to $15) and directions. Admission includes complimentary hot and cold food, beverages, and desserts. The party usually spills out onto the deck, where there's room to dance. House concerts are a nifty way to get personal with some of the best regional (Bordertown, Joy Eden Harrison, Peggy Watson) and national (John Stewart, Chris Smither) acoustic musicians around. And not a bad seat in the house.
