The Before Show: Patricia Frischer
The Before Show: Patricia Frischer closing VIP reception. This marks the first formal exhibition in the newest gallery in Barrio Logan owned and curated by Kaarin Vaughan. The exhibition runs through March 15.
Intrepid explorer of materials and inventor of techniques, the work of Patricia Frischer is constantly evolving. Frischer has been a painter working mainly in neocolor, gouache and acrylic paint for the last 40. This exhibition covers work made in the last 20 years after 20 years in London. The paintings on display give a small taste of a number but not all of the series that were created: Water Rings, Cafe Deception, Borders of Intimacy, Sacred and Profane. One work in the show, Takes Time But Worth It, is being shown for the first time. The titles of the individual works are little poems in their own right and clues to the narrative nature of the work. Recently, Frischer went back to 3 dimensions using glue gun for the painted surfaces. Her latest gossamer floating sculptures have led her back to her school days and her masters degree in sculpture. She is now again exploring casting and modeling. Will an After show be on the books in the future? As the founder of San Diego Visual Arts Network, she is a tireless advocate for the arts in San Diego County.
