The Lemon Grove Historical Society launches the 39th season of its acclaimed "History Alive" lecture series with Donna Vitale Lupinacci on "Battlefield Medicine and the Rise of American Nursing in the U. S. Civil War." The master nurse and frequent lecturer presents her epic story with words, visuals, and artifacts from 1860-65 when Clara Barton and the American Red Cross brought urgently needed skills and humanity to suffering troops. Lupinacci is a former military nurse who understands the challenges faced by the then new profession of nursing. Info: 619-460-4353.
