Gemological Institute of America
Gem and jewelry lovers in San Diego will have a chance to enjoy the more than 1000 eye-catching gems and whimsical jewelry designs on view at the GIA (Gemological Institute of America) museum during the Institute’s annual Open House, held in conjunction with its jewelry career fair. This is the only day of the year that the museum is open to the public without appointment; the event is also free for all guests and job seekers. Visitors will experience a finely curated selection of nearly 200 works of jewelry and objet d’art by 40 members of the American Jewelry Design Council, iconic designs by Hollywood legend Tony Duquette, and 100 trilliant-cut gems in a rainbow of colors that range from 7 to 140 carats. Guests will also have the opportunity to hear from notable personalities in the jewelry industry including celebrity designer Martin Katz and blogger Danielle Miele; visit the GIA library, the largest of its kind in the world and home to the Cartier Rare Book Repository; and explore hundreds of job opportunities with well-known global brands, start-up companies, and family-owned businesses. 760-603-4116 or [email protected].
