China's Megatomb Revealed
9500 Gilman Drive, San Diego, 92093
Cost: Free
UC San Diego alumni Dr. Albert Lin, a Design Lab contributor and National Geographic Explorer, will premiere his latest film China’s Megatomb Revealed, which was produced by National Geographic and the BBC. The documentary-drama hybrid focuses on the brutal and world-changing events surrounding the death of the first Emperor of China, who is best known for unifying the country in 221 BC, building the Great Wall and creating 8000 life-sized Terra Cotta Warriors in his tomb to accompany him into the afterlife. The filmmakers were granted exclusive access to the tomb site, where they used drones with thermal imaging cameras to explore the massive 22 square mile tomb complex. In the Atkinson Hall Auditorium.
