Panelist Lecture: Humanizing Homelessness
San Diego artist Neil Shigley’s large-scale graphic block prints and graceful hyper-detailed graphite drawings confront us with the faces of San Diego’s homeless, a group of people habitually overlooked by our society. By portraying each individual with graphic insight, Shigley humanizes his subjects and challenges us to acknowledge each individual’s story.
Join the artist within his exhibition at the History Center titled: Neil Shigley: Invisible People, Invisible Structures. Afterwards, hear from a panel of experts discussing the state of homelessness in San Diego. The panelists represent social service, advocacy, and government agencies. Their various perspectives will highlight this extremely complex social issue that impacts our community. Take this opportunity to find out more about the present condition of homelessness and the agencies’ future plans for addressing it.
