An Inconsistency in Pure Arithmetic
4280 Clairemont Mesa Boulevard, San Diego, 92117
Cost: Free - $10
The San Diego Philosophy Forum is pleased to announce that Southwestern College mathematician (and philosophy buff) Michael George will walk the audience through a startling inconsistency he discovered recently in basic arithmetic while researching long-distance data transmission.
The proof will require only an understanding of arithmetic through complex numbers, although it will take about an hour to work through the entire process. This is the first public presentation of the work. Michael George teaches mathematics and lab sciences in the Department of Math Science & Engineering at Southwestern college in Chula Vista. He is active in philosophy discussion groups throughout the city, where he brings a rational influence.
