Escondido Candidate Forum
Candidates for Escondido mayor and open council seats will participate in a forum at City Hall. The public is invited, and audience members will be able to pose questions to the candidates.
The forum will be divided into three segments: candidates from District 1, from District 2, and from the mayoral race. The League of Women Voters will moderate the forum, which will be taped for later broadcast on local cable TV. All candidates have agreed to participate. Spanish translation may be available.
The League of Women Voters, who will vet audience questions for clarity and civility, has an excellent reputation for moderating candidate forums. They have been praised for their fairness, impartiality, and high standards. This forum will be an opportunity for all candidates to share their positions with the voters of Escondido prior to the November 4 election.
This election is the first in Escondido’s history where council members will be elected from districts rather than at large, a change which many believe will give Escondidans a council member who better represents the views of their district.
The forum will be hosted by the Escondido Community Roundtable, founded in September of 2013. Co-sponsoring organizations for the forum include the Friends of Daley Ranch, BikeWalk Escondido, the Escondido Citizens’ Ecology Committee, Lake Hodges Native Plant Club, and the San Diego Bicycle Coalition.
