Taiwan Cinema Showcase: Partners in Crime
Three teens were on their way to school when they stumble across the dying body of Wei-chiao, a classmate they barely knew. These three teens -- Huang was used to getting beat up, Lin was not the social type, and Yeh put up a tough guy front but didn’t exactly endear to any friends -- formed a bond as they put on a mission to figure out what happened to their classmate, which was ruled as a suicide, unconvincingly.
This film looks into the question of why these three boys cared and reveals the volatility of the high school social structure.
This screening is made possible from “Spotlight Taiwan” project, collaborated by the Ministry of Culture, Republic of China (Taiwan), Taiwan Academy in Los Angeles, UCSD, Pacific Arts Movement, and generously supported by Dr. Samuel Yin.
