Background:
Chapter 14 was founded in 2003 by Chad Ackerman (As I Lay Dying). Other members have included bassist/guitarist Tanner Sparks (Destroy the Runner), drummer Mike Catalano (Chiodos, Destroy the Runner), guitarist Noah Slifka (In Fear and Faith), and bassist Eddie Hudson (Paper Mache).
“People usually tell us that we remind them of Incubus, Deftones, and the Foo Fighters,” says Ackerman.
“Our songs have a little of everything,” adds Sparks. “I’ve always listened to a wide variety of music, and I love writing in a way that touches base with different genres in each song.”
In 2010, the band pared down to a duo consisting of Ackerman and Sparks, who between them have also played with Austrian Death Machine, As I Lay Dying, and Destroy The Runner. They released a five-song EP, Like Trees in November, recorded at Sparks Studios and at SCM Recordings, and produced, mixed, and mastered by Brian Grider. Along with Ackerman and Sparks, the EP also featured guest player Matt Geise of Lower Definition.
