Baja & Border News Translations: IMMUJER Attends to 5 Violence Cases per Month; Popular Insurance Officials Share Christmas Dinner

IMMUJER Attends to 5 Violence Cases per Month (Tijuana Press, 12/24/12 by Daniel Angel/Leonardo Ortiz)

Tijuana, BC – The Municipal Women's Institute receives up to five requests monthly for assistance from violence where the situation is considered an emergency, said its head, Lourdes Inzunza. "Psychological violence prevails, when there is already harm that we normally detect has been a long process of prolonged psychological violence", she said.

In such cases, she continued, we are working in coordination with municipal police in the area of domestic violence by accompanying them to the victim’s home and giving them legal advice. Most of the attention is for women 17 to 35 years of age is for physical violence and emotional problems, while sexual violence is common in younger women.

She said with these figures, they have been able to create a database and organize public policies aimed at treating the problems. As for the budget considered for next year to maintain existing programs and expand services, Lourdes Inzunza said that they will have the same resources as this year. "Although we increasingly serve more women, with the same personnel, we think there should be an increase as soon as needed", said the Immujer chief. http://www.tijuanapress.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=8502:immujer-atiende-cinco-casos-de-violencia-al-mes&catid=1:locales&Itemid=50
