Kimono: Southern California Style
2690 Historic Decatur Road, Barracks 19, Studio 206, San Diego, 92106
Cost: $133 - $151
Using simple materials and techniques inspired from ones used more than 600 years ago, decorate 14” wide fabric with designs using textile paint and brushes.
Learn about the significance of certain motifs, patterns, and color that reveal the wearer's gender, age, status, wealth, and taste in traditional Japanese Kimono. Create your own meaningful, symbolic narrative to tell your story on the fabric panels.
Bring your sewing machine to sew the painted fabric to create your own kimono-like jacket. Materials list provided upon registration.
Three-week course: March 5, 12, and 26.
